LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky women’s soccer team (6-4-1, 2-1-1 SEC) tied with the Mississippi State Bulldogs (7-1-2, 1-0-2 SEC), 0-0, on Sunday, Sept. 27 at the Bell Soccer Complex. The Wildcats moved to a conference record of 2-1-1.
The two teams were well-matched in the first half, with both remaining scoreless. The Wildcats significantly outshot the Bulldogs, recording seven shots with three on goal against Mississippi State’s four shots with two on goal.
Goalkeeper Megan Holland prevented the Bulldogs from finding the back of the net in the first 45 minutes, posting two saves while Mississippi State goalkeeper Jenny Harrison registered three.
The second half featured similar play. In the 58th minute, senior Katherine Truitt earned a scoring opportunity for the Cats with a header to the top center of the net, eventually getting saved by Harrison.
Both teams were unable to earn a goal before time expired, leaving the score 0-0.
Kentucky dominated in corner kicks with a 10-2 advantage. The Cats finished the day with six shots on goal while the Bulldogs recorded three.
The Wildcats were led by freshman Elise Ernest with two shots on goal, while the other four were contributed by Lexi Tylenda, Nadia Ramadan, Katherine Truitt and Teagan Myers.
Myers made her first start as a Wildcat in Sunday’s draw.
