Women's Soccer Returns Home to Face Mississippi State

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky women’s soccer team (6-4-0, 2-1-0 SEC) will return to the Bell Soccer Complex on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 1 p.m. ET, to battle conference opponent Mississippi State (7-1-2, 1-0-2 SEC). The match will be streamed on SEC Network+.

The Wildcats own the all-time series against the Bulldogs, posting a 14-8-0 record including a home mark of 8-3-0. In their most recent matchup on Oct. 24, 2024, Mississippi State took the 1-0 win on its home pitch.

Entering Sunday’s match, the Wildcats have earned a 6-4-0 record on the season, including a 2-1-0 mark in SEC play. The team had claimed its first 2-0 start in conference matches since 2015, a feat the program has only had four times before.

Last time out, the Wildcats fell to No. 17/21 South Carolina on the road, 2-0. In the first half, the match was highly contested with both teams going scoreless. However, the Gamecocks were able to find the back of the net twice in the second half in order to claim the win.

This campaign, the Wildcats have been efficient on offense, totaling 33 goals on 154 shots and outshooting their opponents 154-90. Kentucky currently ranks in the top-15 nationally and in the top-3 in the SEC in five key categories: total goals (6th NCAA, 3rd SEC, 33), scoring offense (7th NCAA, 3rd SEC, 3.30), points per game (13th NCAA, 3rd SEC, 8.30), total points (14th NCAA, 3rd SEC, 83) and goal differential (15th NCAA, 3rd SEC, 19).

Two-time SEC Freshman of the Week Kyla Dawn currently leads the SEC in shot accuracy, good for second in the nation (0.737). The Dallas native heads the team in overall points (20), goals (9), assists (2) and shots on goal (15), ranking among the best in the country through nine games. 

The Bulldogs have earned a record of 7-1-2, including a conference mark of 1-0-2. In Mississippi State’s most recent match on Sept. 24, 2026, the team tied with No. 9 Tennessee, 0-0. With the draw, the Bulldogs have now won or tied five of their last six matches against top-10 teams.

Sunday’s home match will also be Girl Scouts Day. Girl Scouts can check in at the promotional table to receive a Kentucky Women’s Soccer patch.
