Nicolas Arseneault Wins Round of 32 Match at ITA All-American

TULSA, Okla. – Nicolas Arseneault kept his torrid week in Tulsa going Thursday afternoon, winning his round of 32 match in straight sets to book his spot into the 2026 Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s All-American Championship round of 16.

Arseneault won 7-6 (9), 6-0 over Wake Forest’s Aryan Shah in two vastly different sets Thursday afternoon to win the match, which is his fourth-straight win since advancing out of the qualifying draw earlier in the week. Arseneault and Shah traded holds in the first set until the first break of the match went Shah’s way to take a 5-4 lead and serve for the opening set. Shah had a set point at 40-30 before Arseneault fought back to win three in a row and level the set at five all. In the tiebreak, Arseneault never trailed and arrived at set point for the first time leading 10-9 and closed things out with strong serve that forced a return error and closed the set, 7-6.

In the second set, Shah was broken off the bat at 30 and from then, Arseneault was in cruise control as he held all three service games and broke twice more to seal the win and a spot in the round of 16. In the round of 16, Arseneault will face the winner of [11] Rodrigo Fernandes of Cornell and Andres Santamarta Roig of Virginia.

Kentucky’s Eli Stephenson was also a victor on Thursday as he won his consolation bracket singles match in three sets over Texas A&M’s Alexander Frusina 6-7 (6), 6-3, 6-1. Stephenson is now into the third round of the consolation singles draw where he will play No. 14 seeded Emon van Loben Sels of UCLA.
