• The Wildcats are the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational tournament champions after turning in three rounds under par to form an 839 (-25) tournament total for first place.
  • It set the tournament record for the lowest 54-hole team round in 32 iterations of the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational.
  • It also is the third-best, 54-hole team total in program history.
  • It marked the team’s first team championship this season and its first 54-hole tournament win since winning back-to-back events in 2022-23.
  • The Cats won by 11 shots.
    • Penn State finished in second place at 14-under and Cal-Berkley and Indiana finished tied for third place at 1-under.
  • Three players finished in the top five, including Cathryn Brown (1st), Isabella Johnson (3rd) and C.A. Carter (T4).
  • Brown, a senior from Eddyville, Kentucky, regained the lead to win the individual title. She turned in a 68 (-4) in the final round for a career-best 206 (-10).
    • She won by two shots.
    • She has turned in a par-or-better round in all six rounds this season.
    • It marked her 47th consecutive round that her score has contributed to the team total, a stretch that dates back to her sophomore season in Spring 2025.
    • It marked her third tournament win in her college career but her first 54-hole tournament win (the previous two were 36 holes).
    • It marked her 10th top-10 finish in her college career.
  • Johnson, a junior from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, snuck in at solo third place with an even-par in the final round for a career-best 209 (-7) tournament total.
    • All six of her rounds as a Wildcat have been counted toward the team total.
    • All three of her rounds this season were par-or-better.
    • It marked her sixth top-10 finish in her college career.
  • Carter, a junior from Lexington, Kentucky, had consistent 70 (-2) all week, forming a career-best-tying 210 (-6).
    • It marked her third top-five finish in her college career.

Second Round:

• The field played 36 holes continuously on Monday.
• The Wildcats remain the team leader after posting a 285 (-3) in the second round, assembling a 559 (-17) tournament total through 36 holes.
  • The Cats enter the final round with a nine-shot lead over second-place Penn State (-8) and a 10-shot lead over Cal-Berkley and Indiana (-7).
• Three players are in the top 10, including Johnson, Brown and Carter.
• Johnson, a junior from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, took over the individual lead after the second round, a spot held by teammate Brown after the first round.
  • Johnson, who kicked off the second round with four straight birdies on hole Nos. 4-7, turned in a 70 (-2) in the second round to combined for a 137 (-7) through 36 holes.
    • She is just one shot ahead of three players tied for second place, including Brown.
  • Johnson went 28 holes before ever receiving her first bogey Monday.
• Brown, a senior from Eddyville, Kentucky, who was previously in the lead, suffered a three bogeys on her second lap around the golf course. She turned in a 72 (E) to put together a 138 (-6) through 36 holes.
  • Brown went 24 holes before every receiving her first bogey Monday.
  • It marked her fifth straight round of par-or-better through all five rounds this season.
  • It marked her 46th consecutive round that her score has contributed to the team total, a stretch that dates back to her sophomore season in Spring 2025.
• Carter, a junior from Lexington, Kentucky, stayed consistent with back-to-back rounds of 2-under to help her find T6.

First Round:

• The field played 36 holes continuously on Monday.
• Kentucky is leading the field after a season-best 274 (-14).
  • It tied for the second-best, 18-hole team round in program history.
  • It set the new tournament record for lowest 18-hole team round in 32 iterations of the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational.
  • It is seven shots in front of second place Cincinnati (-7).
• Four of five players in the lineup went under-par, while every player – even the team’s lone individual competitor – scored no worse than 1-over.
• Four players are in the top 10, including Brown, Johnson, Carter and Lucy Cook.
• Brown, a senior from Eddyville, Kentucky, is leading the field after 18 holes on a 66 (-6).
  • Her 6-under tied the tournament record for the lowest 18-hole individual round in 32 iterations of the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational.
  • Her scorecard included 12 pars and six birdies – no blemishes.
  • It marked her fourth straight round of par-or-better through all four rounds this season.
  • It marked her 45th consecutive round that her score has contributed to the team total, a stretch that dates back to her sophomore season in Spring 2025.
• Johnson, a junior from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, is tied-for-second-place after 18 holes on a career-best-tying 67 (-5).
  • Like Brown, she had a blemish-free scorecard with 13 pars and five birdies.
  • It marked her fourth consecutive round – every round that she has been a Wildcat – that her score has contributed to the team total.

General:

• The Wildcats are hosting the 32nd iteration of the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational.
  • The first invitational was formed in 1979.
  • Evans was the Wildcats’ women’s golf coach from 1979 to 2001, before serving as the Director of Golf Operations for the men’s and women’s programs for the next 17 years. She passed away on Sept. 26, 2023.
• The Wildcats have won three of the last five iterations of the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational (2011, 2018, 2019) and 13 total since it began in 1979.
  • In 2018, the Cats set the tournament record with an 858 (-6), while alumna Leonie Bettel set the individual record with a 205 (-11).
• 13 teams will be competing in the team division, while 75 players will try for an individual title.
  • Those teams include Kentucky, Indiana, California-Berkley, Akron, EKU, Cincinnati, Jacksonville State, Lipscomb, Penn State, South Alabama, East Carolina, Richmond and Belmont.
• Samantha Paradise is the team’s lone individual competitor.
