COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Kentucky women’s soccer team (6-3-0, 2-0-0 SEC) opened conference play with a victory over Missouri (3-5-1, 0-2-0 SEC), 2-1, on Friday, Sept. 18, at the Audrey J. Walton Soccer Stadium. Kentucky improves its conference record to 2-0-0, its first undefeated SEC mark since 2015.
The Wildcats took control in the first half, getting on the scoreboard in the 12th minute. Off a serve from junior defender Michelle Moskau, senior midfielder Nadia Ramadan connected for a header into the bottom right of the net, her seventh goal of the season.
In the 75th minute, freshman Kyla Dawn scored the ninth goal of her debut season, bringing the Wildcats’ advantage to two heading into the final 15 minutes.
The Tigers were able to cut the deficit in the 87th minute thanks to freshman Rylie Morse’s free kick. However, Missouri could not find the equalizer before the time expired, allowing the Wildcats to reign victorious.
Although the Tigers outshot the Wildcats 8-5, it was Kentucky that held the 4-2 advantage in shots on goal and the 5-2 edge in corner kicks. Goalkeeper Megan Holland recorded a save in the second half while Missouri goalkeeper Riley Wilkerson posted two.
