Men’s Soccer Set for First Road Test vs. Virginia Tech

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky Wildcats (0-1-1) are set to travel to Blacksburg, Va. for their first road test of the 2026 season in a Friday night matchup against the Virginia Tech Hokies (1-1-0) at Thompson Field.

The Wildcats have enjoyed a productive start to the new season on the offensive end of the pitch, scoring two goals in both of their first two outings. Each goal has been scored by a different player, including Tom Keller and Costa Iliadis in the opener against Western Michigan, and Michael Lee and Yasha Schaerer against Louisville.

The matchup against Virginia Tech is the first of three nonconference road games this season for the Wildcats, including games against Lipscomb on Sept. 22 and Indiana on Oct. 6.

Friday night will feature the third meeting between the Wildcats and Hokies in both programs’ history. The first meeting dates back to the 1993 season, resulting in a 1-1 draw in Lexington. The second matchup came just two years ago during the 2024 season, resulting in another draw, leaving both teams seeking their first win of the series.

Virginia Tech enters match day three of the season coming off a 1-0 loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes in their season opener but followed that performance with a 7-0 thrashing of Howard at home on Sunday.

Kickoff for Kentucky vs. Virginia Tech is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET. The match will be streamed live on AACNX.
