Wildcats Post Three Second Team All-American Finishes on Day Two of NCAA Championships
EUGENE, Ore. – The Kentucky Wildcats completed day two of the NCAA Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. on Thursday.
After the opening day of the men’s semifinal events yesterday, the women’s team took to the track for their opening day of champ week. The Wildcats featured in six total events, including two field events in the hammer throw and pole vault, during today’s championships, logging three All-American finishes.
In the 100m hurdles semifinal, Kentucky’s Emmi Scales narrowly missed out on a qualifying spot in Saturday’s final, finishing 11th, just two spots away from the cutoff time of 12.95, with a 13.01 mark. Scales concluded her 2025 season with a Second Team All-American nod for the first time in her collegiate career.
UK freshman star Janet Jepkemboi Amimo also just missed out on punching her ticket to the NCAA final on Saturday in the women’s 800m semifinal, placing 10th, one spot removed from the cutoff line, with a 2:02.10 time. By finishing inside the top 16, Jepkemboi Amimo finished her season with a Second Team All-American honor in just her first season with the Wildcats.
In the final event of the evening, Kentucky finished 14th in the women’s 4x400m relay semifinal with a 3:31.95 time to earn the Wildcats third Second Team All-American honor of the day.
Day three of the NCAA Championships from Eugene will feature four men’s final events for the Wildcats, starting with the men’s 4x100m relay final at 8:02 p.m. EST. That event will be followed by the men’s triple jump final, featuring Luke Brown, at 8:10 p.m. EST.
