Kentucky Falls to Oklahoma in the SEC Tournament

HOOVER, Ala. – Kentucky now faces a long week of waiting.

The Wildcats dropped their Southeastern Conference Tournament opener to Oklahoma, 5-1, at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium. UK fell to 29-24 overall on the season and now will await their NCAA Tournament fate, which is announced Monday, May 26.

The Cats couldn’t generate enough consistent offense against the Sooners, hitting into three double plays and not generating any hit by pitch. After taking a 1-0 lead in the third inning on a Sooners error, Oklahoma responded right back with a two-run home run and another run on a stolen base, wild pitch and RBI groundout.

One of the bright spots on the day, however, was infielder Luke Lawrence. He went 3-for-3, scored UK’s lone run, doubled and walked. It was hit team-leading 18th multi-hit game of the season.
