NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – Behind a four-over par team score of 292, the University of Kentucky women’s golf team surged into a tie for fourth place after round two of the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational on Tuesday at Champion Trace at Keene Trace Golf Club.

Elin Pudas Remler, a freshman competing in her college debut, had the round of the day for the Wildcats, posting a 3-under par 69, which included four birdies and an eagle. Pudas Remler picked up her first birdie on the par-4 No. 4 and immediately followed that with an eagle on the par-5 No. 5. The Gothenburg, Sweden, native added birdies on a pair of par threes – No. 9 and No. 16 – to go along with another on the par 4 No. 13.

Two others went par-or-better today, including UK’s lone senior Marta López Echevarría and a freshman Anastasia Hekkonen.

Both Wildcats recorded even-par 72s, and both Cats did so with clean scorecards, each just logging one birdie and one bogey during their rounds. López Echevarría shed three strokes off her first round, while Hekkonen, competing as an individual in the first tournament of her college career, shed an impressive seven strokes from Sunday.

A birdie on her first hole of the round, the par-4 No. 10, was the first of four birdies Monday, including a pair of par-3s on the back nine.

The Wildcat’s 146 through two rounds has her sitting T8, alongside Pudas Remler.

Competing in the first tournament of her college career, Raleygh Simpson, a freshman from Kerryville, Texas, improved in the second round, contributing to the team score for the second straight day.
