Charity Hufnagel Improves High Jump School Record at NCAA Outdoor Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – UKTF completed day three of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships today at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. Junior Luke Brown scored points for the men on the final day while senior Charity Hufnagel set a new school record in the women’s high jump during the heptathlon.

Luke Brown closed out the competition for the men this evening placing fifth in the triple jump. Brown’s mark of 53’11.25”/16.44 meters came on his third attempt in the competition. The Jamaican added four points in his NCAA Outdoor Championships debut to the team’s 10 points already giving the men a final total of 14 team points. The program finished the championships in a three-way tie for 20th.

Senior Charity Hufnagel started the day for the Wildcats fighting her way through the first four events of the heptathlon. It was a rough start to the competition as Hufnagel placed 20th in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.14 (+0.2) earning 959 points.

She got back on track in her specialty event, the high jump, winning with a clearance of 6’1.50”/1.87 meters to earn 1,067 points. Her clearance was a season best and saw her improve the outdoor school record for the second time this season.

Hufnagel kept the good momentum rolling in the shot put throwing a personal best 44’0.75”/13.43 meters for an eighth-place finish and 756 points. Hufnagel ended the night with the 200 meters placing 19th with a time of 25.15 (-0.6) to earn 873 points. The Indiana native closed the day in fifth overall in the competition with a total of 3,655 points.
