UKTF Wins Seven Events on Senior Day to Close Jim Green Invitational

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The University of Kentucky track and field program celebrated the senior class of 2024 in style earning seven event wins on the day to conclude the Jim Green Invitational at the Outdoor Track & Field Complex.

The event wins came in the women’s 4×100 & 4×400 meter relays, the men’s and women’s 100 meter dash & 100/110-meter hurdles, and women’s 400 meters. Two Wildcats, Clinton Muunga and Oneika McAnnuff earned their first career event wins as members of the program in the 100 meter dash and 400 meters respectively.

On top of the event wins, 23 Wildcats placed in the top 10 giving Kentucky a total of 14 event wins and 45 top 10 finishes on the weekend alongside two new freshmen records in the hammer throw and 1,500 meters.

The Wildcats will participate in the final meet of the outdoor season next week when they travel to Des Moines, Iowa for the Drake Relays on April 24-27.

SPRINTS & HURDLES

100mH

WOMEN – Junior Alexis Glasco won her heat and the prelims overall with a time of 13.14 (wind pending) earning the automatic qualifier to the final. Senior Charity Hufnagel placed fifth in the prelims but qualified on time in 14.10 (wind pending) for the final.

110mH

MEN – Freshman Alexander Chukwukelu won the prelims and his heat with a personal best time of 13.73 (0.7) to earn the automatic qualifier.

SPRINTS & HURDLES

100m

WOMEN – Junior Victoria Perrow won with a time of 11.46 (-0.1). It marked her best finish of the outdoor season so far.

MEN – Junior Clinton Muunga won his first event as a Wildcat, crossing the line in 10.29 (+1.3). Freshman Miles Jones finished third with a personal best time of 10.33 (+1.3) while freshman Troy Lane finished ninth with a personal best time of 10.50 (+1.3).

100mH

WOMEN – Junior Alexis Glasco won her second event of the season with a time of 13.04 (+1.9). Senior Charity Hufnagel finished sixth with a time of 13.87 (+1.9). It marks Hufnagel’s best finish in the event this outdoor season.

110mH

MEN – Freshman Alexander Chukwukelu won his first 110mH event of his career crossing the line in 13.51 (+3.0). It marks his best finish of the outdoor season so far.

400m

WOMEN – Freshman Oneika McAnnuff won her first event as a Wildcat tying her personal best at 52.98. Senior Jania Martin finished fourth with a time of 54.18 while freshman Cha’iel Johnson was sixth with a time of 54.72. Senior Reynei Wallace finished 10th with a personal best time of 55.40. It marks Johnson’s best finish in the event this outdoor season.

MEN – Sophomore Brandon Nyandoro finished fifth with a time of 48.18. It marks his best finish of the outdoor season in the event.

RELAYS

4X100m

WOMEN – The “A” team of junior Victoria Perrow, freshmen Oneika McAnnuff and Morgan Davis, and junior Alexis Glasco won with a season-best time of 44.36.

4X400m

WOMEN – Kentucky’s “A” team of freshman Oneika McAnnuff, senior Jania Martin, freshman Cha’iel Johnson, and senior Reynei Wallace won in 3:35.30.

DISTANCE

5000M

MEN –  Freshman Caden Miracle finished second with a time of 14:35.04 while sophomore Cade Byer placed fifth with a time of 14:43.19. It marks Byer’s best finish in the event this outdoor season.

HEPTATHLON

WOMEN – Junior Ariel Pedigo placed third with 4,908 points and ranks seventh on the UK all-time performers list. Her best event of the day came in the javelin throw where she won with a throw of 140’7”/42.87 meters earning 722 points.

Freshman Julia Gunnell finished sixth earning 4,486 points. Her best finish of the day came in both the javelin throw and 800 meters where she placed fifth.

JUMPS

POLE VAULT

MEN – Senior Dalton Shepler placed third in the invitational section of the event with a clearance of 16’3.50”/4.97 meters. Sophomore Brayden Jackson earned a fourth-place finish with a clearance of 16’3.50”/4.97 meters in his section of the event.

THROWS

DISCUS THROW

MEN – Senior Dennis Ohene-Adu finished 10th with a mark of 168’1”/51.25 meters.

SHOT PUT

WOMEN – Senior Simi Akinrinsola finished 10th with a mark of 48’3.50”/14.72 meters.

MEN – UK alum Josh Sobota (Class of ’23), won the event with a throw of 63’0.25”/19.21 meters. Senior Dennis Ohene-Adu finished fourth with a throw of 59’2.75”/18.05 meters which ties his best finish in the event this outdoor season.
