Luke Brown Improves Triple Jump Record at Tom Jones Memorial Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Junior Luke Brown stole the show for the Wildcats today at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational improving his outdoor triple jump record for the second straight meet. Brown set the record just two weeks ago at the Battle on the Bayou hosted by LSU.

Brown, who was the highest finishing collegiate athlete in a mixed field including professionals, improved his record on the third jump with a mark of 54’1”/16.48 meters. The mark moves him to second in the NCAA this season and marks his second straight top-five finish in the event.

In other results today, the men’s 4×100 relay team consisting of freshman Shavique Bascus, junior Clinton Muunga, freshman Miles Jones, and graduate student Kennedy Lightner ran a season-best 38.96 to move to third on the UK all-time performers list. The time also propelled the Wildcats into the top 10 in the NCAA this season.

Four more Wildcats set new personal bests today adding to the four set on Friday for a total of eight during the weekend. The team also collected another 11 finishes in the top 10 giving them a total of 18 for the meet.
