Keaton Daniel Continues To Receive Votes on The Bowerman Watchlist
NEW ORLEANS, La. — University of Kentucky track & field pole vaulter Keaton Daniel is again receiving votes for The Bowerman this time included on the Post-NCAA Indoor Championships edition of The Bowerman Watchlist by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The USTFCCCA announced the latest edition of a 10-person watch list Thursday and Daniel was among three additional athletes who are also receiving votes for the watch list. The Bowerman takes into consideration both the indoor and outdoor seasons and finalists will be announced in December. Kentucky’s most recent finalist was Abby Steiner who won the award in 2022.
This is Daniel’s third career watch list appearance.
A senior from Henderson, Nevada, Daniel won his first NCAA Championship after securing gold in the pole vault with a clearance of 18’8.25”/5.70 meters at the NCAA Indoor Championships two weeks ago. Daniel also repeated as the SEC Indoor pole vault champion for the second year in a row after vaulting 18’5.25”/5.62 meters. It marked his fifth combined SEC title since joining the Wildcats.
Daniel won five of six pole vault events from six meets during the indoor season and improved his indoor school record to a height of 19’0.25”/5.80 meters at the Corky Classic. The mark led the nation heading into the NCAA Indoor Championships.
He earned USTFCCCA First-Team All-American honors and was named USTFCCCA Southeast Region Field Athlete of the Year based on his accomplishments during the indoor season.
Daniel and the Wildcats will return to outdoor competition March 27-30 as they compete in the Battle on the Bayou, Stanford Invitational, and Texas Relays.
