Five Wildcats Qualify for NCAA Indoor Championships

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky Track & Field will send four men and one woman to compete in the upcoming NCAA Indoor Championships on March 7-9 in Boston, Massachusetts, as announced by the NCAA tonight.

The top 16 competitors in each individual event qualify for the NCAA Championships while the top 12 teams in the relay events also qualify.

Below is a list of who has qualified and in which event(s).

Women:

High Jump: Charity Hufnagel

Pentathlon: Charity Hufnagel

Men:

200m – Kennedy Lightner

Pole Vault – Keaton Daniel

Triple Jump – Luke Brown

Weight Throw – Dennis Ohene-Adu

The Wildcats are coming off an SEC Championship meet where the men finished 6th and the women placed 10th.

Seniors Charity Hufnagel, Keaton Daniel, and junior Luke Brown all won gold in their respective events while graduate student Kennedy Lightner and senior Dennis Ohene-Adu took home bronze medals.

It marked the first SEC medals for Brown, Hufnagel, and Ohene-Adu while Daniel took home his fifth SEC gold medal. Lightner earned the fifth SEC medal of his career in the 200 meters.

The NCAA Indoor Championships will start for the Wildcats on Thursday, March 7th at 6 p.m. with the men’s weight throw.
