Gymnastics to Open Homestand with Friday’s Excite Night

LEXINGTON, Ky. – No. 7 Kentucky gymnastics (3-2, 1-1 SEC) will kick off the 2024 homestand on Friday at Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center for Excite Night hosting No. 18 Georgia (1-2, 0-2 SEC) at 7 p.m. EST.

Meet sponsor, White, Greer & Maggard Orthodontists, will be on site with a custom photo booth and $1,000 grand prize for a lucky fan to put toward braces. The first 1,000 fans will receive LED crowns. Following the Blue Carpet experience, fans will also have the opportunity to enter a giveaway for an American Girl Doll featuring exact replicas of classic UK gymnastics leotards.

The Wildcats are coming off their best season start to date with their performances in the first three meets. In the most recent contest at No. 3 LSU, the Cats posted a 197.600, the best road score thus far in the season. Prior to the meet in Baton Rouge, UK recorded a 197.475 at No. 13 Auburn and 196.775 at the Mean Girls Super 16 Gymnastics Championships in Las Vegas, Nev.

The Bulldogs will enter Friday’s competition after a home defeat against No. 9 Missouri, 197.050-197.400.

Kentucky last hosted Georgia in 2022 for a quad meet with the Dawgs, Central Michigan, and Illinois. UK defeated UGA, 197.450-196.125. However, last season in Athens Ga., the Cats fell 196.575-197.225. Georgia holds a 13-1-1 all-time series record advantage over Kentucky.

Excite Night doors will open at 6 p.m. with warmups ending at 6:30. The 50 Years of UK Gymnastics Alumni event will begin at 6:40 followed by introductions at 6:48.
