Luke Brown Improves Triple Jump Record at Corky Classic

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The University of Kentucky track and field program saw another school record broken on Saturday as the program concluded the Corky Classic and Vanderbilt Invitational.

Junior Luke Brown, who held the men’s triple jump record at 54’09.25”/16.69 meters going into the meet today, improved his mark to 55’1.50”/16.80 meters on his fourth attempt. The jump not only is a school record but is also the greatest distance recorded in the country by a collegian so far this season.

After the weekend, Kentucky holds two top marks in the country on the men’s side in field events after senior Keaton Daniel launched himself atop the men’s pole vault leaderboards last night.

In addition to Brown’s record-setting day, graduate student Kennedy Lightner picked up a win in the men’s 200 meters, crossing the line in 20.42 seconds. The time is a personal best for Lightner and ranks second overall on the UK all-time performers list. The time also ties for the second fastest in the country.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Cain collected her first career event win as a Wildcat today after taking the “B” section of the pole vault. Her clearance of 12’9.50”/3.90 meters tied with teammate graduate student Kristen Masucci who was runner-up. Cain secured the victory by having one less miss overall.

The Wildcats collected three event wins on the day with 15 top-five finishes and 12 new personal bests across the two meets.
