Records Fall In Opening Day of Rod McCravy Memorial Meet

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The University of Kentucky track and field program secured four event wins and broke two program records on the opening day of the Rod McCravy Memorial Meet in the Norton Sports & Learning Center in Louisville, Kentucky.

Graduate Kennedy Lightner set a new school record in the men’s 300 meters with a time of 32.45 seconds overtaking Dwight St. Hilliaire’s 2021 record of 32.70 set in the same city.

Freshman Kate Powers took out an 18-year-old freshman record en route to her first event win as a Wildcat this afternoon. Her throw of 65’0”/19.81 meters saw her overtake Ashley Muffet’s 61’9”/18.82 meters set in 2006. Power’s throw also ranks sixth on the UK all-time performers list.

The Wildcats also picked up four event wins in the women’s high jump, weight throw, pole vault, and men’s 300 meters.

Eight Wildcats combined advanced from the 60-meter dash and 60-meter hurdles prelims this afternoon. Four men and three women will compete in the 60-meter dash while two women will compete in the 60-meter hurdles semifinals tomorrow afternoon.

Sprints & Hurdles

60-Meter Dash

Women – Junior Victoria Perrow won her heat in 7.43 seconds to earn the automatic qualification to the semifinals. She placed sixth overall.

Junior Hannah Douglas set a personal best time of 7.46 to qualify on time for the semifinals. She placed 14th overall.

Freshman Emmi Scales qualified for the semifinals with a time of 7.53 seconds. She placed 16th overall.

Men – Junior Clinton Muunga won his heat with a personal best time of 6.69 to earn the automatic qualifier on his Wildcat debut. The time ranks tied for 10th on the UK all-time performers list. He finished third overall.

Freshman Miles Jones won his heat in 6.74 seconds to earn the automatic qualifier to the semifinals. He placed fourth overall.

Freshman Troy Lane set a personal best time of 6.76 to win his heat and earn the automatic qualifier to the semifinals. He placed fifth overall.

Graduate Kennedy Lightner qualified for tomorrow’s semifinals placing ninth overall in 6.77 seconds.

60-Meter Hurdles

Women – Junior Alexis Glasco qualified for the semifinals on time crossing the line in 8.37 seconds. She placed sixth overall.

Freshman Emmi Scales won her heat earning the automatic qualifier to the semifinals in 8.41 seconds. She placed seventh overall.

200M

Women – Emmi Scales set a personal best time of 24.57 to place eighth overall.

300M

Women – Freshman Onieka McAnnuff placed seventh in her Wildcat debut with a time of 38.80 seconds.

Men – Graduate Kennedy Lightner set a new school record in the men’s 300 meters with a time of 32.45 seconds overtaking Dwight St. Hilliaire’s 2021 record of 32.70 set in the same city.

Graduate Jahlahnee Watkins placed seventh with a personal best time of 33.80 seconds.

Distance

600M

Women – Senior Bryanna Lucas had a personal best time of 1:34.49 to finish ninth.

Men – Senior Justin Swann had a personal best time of 1:18.80 to finish second.

Sophomore Brandon Nyandoro placed 10th with a time of 1:21.55 in his season event debut.

Distance Medley

Women – Kentucky’s “A” team consisting of senior Jenna Schwinghamer, senior Mahogany Mobley, freshman Aubree Hay and junior Phoebe McCowan placed second with a time of 11:41.30.

Kentucky’s “B” team consisting of senior Sydney Steely, senior Bryanna Lucas, freshman Lyric Olson, and junior Mollie Roden placed third with a time of 11:43.62.

Men – Kentucky’s “A” team consisting of senior Dustin Horter, senior Justin Swann, sophomore Alex Alston, and junior Jackson Watts placed second with a time of 10:15.93.

Jumps & Throws

High Jump

Women – Senior Charity Hufnagel won the first event of the day for the Wildcats with a jump of 6’00.75”/1.85 meters. Her mark ranks second on the UK all-time performers list and marks her first event win as a Wildcat.

Freshman Morgan Davis placed 11th on her event debut with a jump of 5’5”/1.65 meters.

Men – Junior Donsten Brown tied for fourth with a jump of 6’6.75”/2.00 meters.

Freshman Devin Sealey had a personal best jump of 6’6.75”/2.00 meters but one more miss than Brown, placing him sixth.

Long Jump

Women – Freshman Morgan Davis placed second with a personal best of 20’01.50”/6.13 meters.

Men – Freshman Samuel Reagan jumped a personal best 23’4”/7.11 meters to finish 13th overall.

Pole Vault

Women – Payton Phillips gave the Wildcats the win with a personal best vault of 14’0”/4.27 meters to remain third on the UK all-time performers list.

Both Sophomore Kaitlyn Cain and Graduate Kristen Masucci tied for third with a vault of 13’00.25”/3.97 meters. It marked a personal best for Cain and has them both tied for fourth on the UK all-time performers list.

Weight Throw

Senior Simi Akinrinsola tied with Kate Powers with her throw of 65’0”/19.81 meters but fouled on her last two attempts giving her teammate the win.

Freshman Shelby Wingler had a personal best throw of 54’08.75”/16.68 meters to finish ninth.

Junior Amaya Livingston had a personal best throw of 46’11.50”/14.31 meters to finish 14th.

Men – Junior Logan Coles placed second with a throw of 65’05.50”/19.95 meters.

Senior Dennis Ohene-Adu placed fourth with a throw of 61’01.50”/18.63 meters.

Senior DaRoyce Flemons earned a top 10 finish taking ninth with a throw of 58’01.75”/17.72 meters.
