Kentucky, Furman Tip Off on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET at Rupp Arena for the Holiday Game

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s basketball program will play host to Furman on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 1 p.m. ET, as it returns to Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center for its annual Holiday Game. Fans attending the game are encouraged to wear a holiday sweater, while they enjoy a holiday-festive game experience, which includes an appearance by Big Blue Santa.

The game will be broadcast on SEC Network+, with Jeff Piecoro and Christi Thomas on the call. Big Blue Nation can also listen in to the play-by-play on UK Sports Network and / or 630 AM WLAP (locally), with the Voice of the Wildcats Darren Headrick on the mic.

The Wildcats are 4-7 this season, including 4-2 at home and 1-1 at Rupp Arena. Kentucky returns home after falling to No. 18/18 Louisville, 73-61, in a tough matchup on the road last Sunday, which marked its last road game of the nonconference season.

Maddie Scherr, a senior guard, returned to action in that game after sitting out the previous two games in concussion protocol. She led the team with 22 points, four 3-pointers, three steals and a block. Ajae Petty, a senior forward, continued her head-turning season in the rival arena, recording her third straight double-double on 18 points and 10 rebounds. That performance came just five days after being named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week, her first honor of that kind.

Petty is one of just three players in the league to have recorded six double-doubles this season, while she also is second in the conference in both rebounds (110) and field-goal percentage (61.8).

The Wildcats are averaging 15.75 assists per game over the last four games since retuning home from the Virgin Islands. In fact, four Cats have recorded at least five assists at least once in a game over that stretch, including Brooklynn Miles, Cassidy Rowe, Eniya Russell and Emma King.

Kentucky leads Furman in the all-time series, 1-0, with the Wildcats earning a 74-35 triumph at Memorial Coliseum in December 2008.

The Paladin’s are 7-4 in 2023-24, including 2-3 in road games. They’re averaging 73.8 points per game and 44.8 rebounds per game. Furman has five players averaging double-digit scoring, including leading scorer and leading rebounder Jada Session (15.1 ppg, 9.3 rpg).
