Two Wildcat Doubles Teams End Fall Season Ranked

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky women’s tennis has been represented by two doubles teams in the latest ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings, the association announced Wednesday.

Partners Lidia Gonzalez and Ellie Eades ended the fall season ranked No. 25 while the pair of Makayla Mills and Lizzy Stevens ended at No. 36.

“This is a testament to the hard work that the entire team has put in this fall,” head coach Shelley Jaudon said. “Ellie and Lidia were open to playing together from day one and really hit it off. They really took advantage of their opportunities this fall with a strong showing at Regionals followed by an appearance at the ITA Fall Nationals.”

The No. 25-ranked pair played well through ITA Regionals in Knoxville, Tenn. which earned the duo a spot at ITA Fall Nationals. Most recently at the University of North Florida Invite last weekend, the pair defeated their first set of opponents 6-3, followed by a second day 4-6 defeat.

“Makayla and Lizzy have been very consistent together throughout the fall season and have done a nice job learning what works for them as a team,” stated Jaudon. “Both teams are fun to watch and are primed for strong spring seasons.”

Mills and Stevens fell 4-6 on the first day of the UNF Invite but came out on top 6-2 on the second day of play. The pair also found success at the Tennessee Invite last month where they took down their opponent 7(7)-6(5).

The Wildcat doubles pairs will be back on the courts in the spring with the schedule to be announced. For the full ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings, click here.
