UKTF Signs All-American Transfer Charity Griffith

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky track and field have signed Ball State transfer and recent 2023 NCAA outdoor high jump national champion Charity Griffith, Head Coach Lonnie Greene has announced.

The junior jumper reigns from Rushville, Indiana, and spent the last three seasons at Ball State before entering the portal.

Griffith stunned the high jump field en route to the Cardinals’ first national championship since 1999. She blew past her personal best and school-record mark of 1.85 meters, eventually clearing 6’4”/ 1.93 meters while the rest of the competition failed to surpass 1.90 meters. Griffith coasted through her first three heights and, after her first miss, cleared 1.87 meters to break the Ball State record.

For Griffith, it was her third top-five NCAA finish in the past 12 months – finishing fifth at last year’s NCAA Outdoor Championships and fifth again in the 2023 Indoor Championships.

Griffith has collected a plethora of awards in her time as a Cardinal, including being named a three-time All-American, MAC Champion, and Academic All-MAC selection. She was named the 2023 USTFCCCA Great Lakes Region Field Athlete of the Year just two weeks ago.

Griffith will make her debut for the Wildcats at the upcoming Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships next week from July 6-9 in Eugene, Oregon.
