Three Wildcats Announce Their Return for a Fifth Year

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Three Wildcats, who were essential to the University of Kentucky women’s golf team’s record-shattering season in 2022-23, have announced their return to the program for a fifth year.

All three seniors from last season’s roster, including Jensen Castle, María Villanueva Aperribay and Marissa Wenzler, have elected to take their extra year of eligibility, which was granted to them by the NCAA due to COVID-19.

Those seniors, alongside returner Laney Frye and graduate Ivy Shepherd, produced 11 school records last season. Those school records include:

In addition, the lineup collected two tournament titles and one medalist honor, among numerous other accomplishments.

The trio of rising graduates returning to the ‘Cats next season are joined by rising senior Frye, rising junior Marta López Echevarría, rising sophomore Abigail Sutherland and incoming freshmen Cathryn Brown and Brooke Oberparleite.

While the ‘Cats will participate in individual tournaments throughout the summer, the official schedule for next season will be announced at a later date.
