Pit Stop: Kentucky Hosts Bellarmine Before Road Trip

by UK Athletics Communications and PR

Kentucky will host Bellarmine for the second time this season in between road swings. The Wildcats scored three runs in the ninth inning and walked the Knights off on Oraj Anu’s double in their home opener in February.

First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. ET on SECN+.

In that game, Chase Estep scampered home from first to score the winning run after singling. The Cats entered their final at-bat needing a pair of runs to tie the game. Hunter Jump lined a single to center before Jacob Plastiak belted an 0-1 pitch just over the wall in right field to tie things. Seth Logue made his first collegiate start on the mound and struck out six in five innings.

The Wildcats (19-13, 4-8 SEC) will be seeking their 20th victory of the season, which also would move coach Nick Mingione into a tie for fourth at UK with 163 career wins. The Cats are coming off a hard-fought weekend at Texas A&M where they split the first two games before running out of healthy pitching in the series finale on Saturday. They will travel to Missouri to open a series Thursday night.
