Cats Seeded Tenth on the Road to Nationals

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The NCAA held its selection show for the upcoming set of four regional competition locations on Tuesday. The No. 10- seeded Kentucky Wildcats will head to Auburn to battle for an opportunity to compete in Fort Worth, Texas at Dickies Arena for a national championship next month.

The Auburn Regional will take place March 30-April 2 at Neville Arena, formerly Auburn Arena as of March 5. The National Championships will begin April 14 concluding on April 16.

Kentucky will compete in the first session of competition with SEC opponents No. 7 Auburn and Georgia with Southern Utah rounding out the quad-meet.

In the second session, the four will consist of recently crowned SEC Champions No. 2 Florida, No. 15 Denver, Ohio State, and the winner of Wednesday’s play-in day.

Thursday’s two-sessions of competition will cut the bracket down to four teams (top two from each session) who will go head-to-head Saturday. This will separate the top two overall who will secure a ticket to Texas. Individuals will also have the opportunity to qualify for nationals in either the all-around or individual specialized events.

In addition to the Auburn Regional, the remainder of the top-36 teams will be competing in Seattle, Raleigh, N.C., and Norman, Okla. To view the qualifying teams and bracket, click here.

According to the NCAA, “teams 1-16 are seeded by the NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Committee and the remaining teams are placed geographically at one of the four regional sites. Included in the championship field are also 12 all-around competitors and 64 individual event specialists (all of whom are not on a qualifying team).”
