STATESBORO, Ga. – Alex Goff had a season-low 5-under-par 67 to lead the Kentucky men’s golf team into second place at the Schenkel Invitational on Saturday. Goff spearheaded the Wildcats who fired an 8-under round during the second round. The score was the lowest of any team and Goff led four starters who fired even par or lower.

The Kings Mountain, Georgia, native rebounded in a big way following the opening round 78 he fired on Friday. Goff answered and shaved off 11 strokes on Saturday and moved into a tie for 34th on the individual leaderboard. He was easily the biggest riser of the day moving 44 spots.

Goff got his round going early with a birdie on the opening hole of his round at the par-four first. He had two more birdies on the front nine gaining strokes at the seventh and ninth to make the turn at 3-under. He continued to play flawlessly with not a single bogey during his round and earned two more birdies at the 15th and 16th for the impressive 5-under scorecard.

Kentucky ascended the leaderboard by five positions behind the course-low round. The Wildcats are a combined 10-under for the round, while Georgia Southern continues to pace the field at 21-under par. Kentucky holds a three-shot advantage over Notre Dame, UAB, College of Charleston and Cincinnati heading into Sunday’s final round.

Campbell Kremer moved into a tie for 12th with a 2-under 70 during Saturday’s second round after opening the tournament with an even-par 72. Kremer was 3-under par over his opening nine holes with four birdies to offset one bogey. A bogey at the 11th was followed by seven straight pars for his final score.
