LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky rifle program has signed Braden Peiser, who has competed and won several competitions for USA Shooting on the international level, to a National Letter of Intent. Peiser will join the Kentucky program for the 2023 fall semester.

“We are very excited that Braden is going to be a Wildcat,” UK head coach Harry Mullins said. “I have seen him compete for years now and I feel he will make a great addition to our program. He has a very high competitive spirit and is an outstanding young man.”

Peiser will come to Lexington from San Angelo, Texas, where he is not only one of the best performers in the state, but in the world at his age. Peiser, like several current UK student-athletes, has traveled the world to represent USA Shooting at several competitions.

Most recently, Peiser traveled with USA Shooting to participate in the 2022 World Championships in Cairo, finishing high in several events. He was part of USA’s junior 50 meter rifle three positions men’s team that took home gold at the event, while he finished fourth individually in 10 meter air rifle men’s junior, 10th in 50 meter rifle three positions men’s junior and 17th in 50 meter rifle prone men’s junior.

At the 2021 World Championships in Lima, Peru, Peiser won silver in 50 meter rifle prone mixed team junior and bronze in 50 meter rifle three positions men’s junior team. Individually, he placed eighth in 50meter rifle three positions men’s junior and ninth in 50 meter rifle prone men’s junior. At the 2021 championships, he joined with teammates to help set two world records.

At USA Shooting’s 2022 Rifle National Championships, Peiser took home silver in 50 meter smallbore men’s junior. His first trip to the ISSF World Championships was in 2018.
