by Gregory Welsh

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky begins its final week of non-conference play this Thursday night as the Cats host Wright State at the Wendell and Vickie Bell Soccer Complex beginning at 7 p.m. Admission is free for all fans who wish to attend. The match is also available for streaming on SECN+.

The Wildcats (5-1-0) have won five of their first six games for the first time since 2015 and are coming off a 4-0 win against Iowa State in which the team scored three goals in the final nine minutes. The victory was Kentucky’s second of the year against a power-five opponent, marking the first time the program has beaten two power-five teams in non-conference play since 2015.

Dana Dahm and Emilie Rhode each registered the first goals of their UK careers in the contest, while Hannah Richardson and Mallory Glass also tallied. Kentucky’s 12 goal scorers this year are the second most in Division I, trailing only Georgia (13).

Wright State (3-3-0) has dropped two consecutive matches entering Thursday, most recently falling on the road to Eastern Kentucky. The Raiders’ roster features 2021 First-Team All-Horizon selection, Olga Massombo along with all-freshman team member, Olivia Mace. Kaylin Helinski, Michelle Rings and Marcella Sizer are all tied for the team-lead with three points on the season, while six different Raiders have scored a goal.

Kentucky leads the all-time series with Wright State, 3-1-0. The two teams last met in 1995.
