LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky men’s track and field senior jumper Rahman Minor has been named the Southeastern Conference Men’s Field Athlete of the Week for the week of April 5.

Minor earned this distinction through an impressive performance in the high jump at the Florida Relays.

He won the high jump with a mark of 7’2.25″/2.19m, which now ranks him fifth in the NCAA this outdoor season.

With this jump, Minor also tied his best outdoor mark at UK, ranking him fifth all-time for the program.

The last time Minor jumped higher than 7’2.25″ was when he jumped 7’2.5″ for SEC bronze at 2020 SEC Indoor Championships.

His indoor personal best at UK is 7’3″, which he jumped for in 2019 at home during the annual Rod McCravy Memorial meet.

Minor hit that 7’3″ mark for the first time as a freshman at Purdue during the 2018 outdoor season.

His win at Florida Relays was his second win in a row after winning the high jump at the Black and Gold Invitational two weeks prior with a jump height of 7’0.25″/2.14m.

At this year’s SEC Indoor Championships, Minor placed fifth with a 6’11″/2.11m jump.

Minor, alongside over 30 more Wildcats, will travel to Louisiana State University to compete in the Joe Walker Invitational on Saturday, April 9.
