LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky women’s track & field distance runner Kaitlyn Lacy ran the sixth fastest 10,000-meter time in program history in her first time ever competing in the event at the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, North Carolina at North Carolina State University.

Freshman Sophie Galloway competed in her first meet as a Wildcat in the heptathlon at the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, while Sophie Carrier and Sarah Michels joined Lacy in the 10,000m.

Lacy placed 39th overall and 17th in her heat with a time of 34:55.36 seconds in the 10,000m.

Lacy is also eighth on the UK all-time list in the 5,000m from running 16:26.63 during last year’s outdoor season.

Carrier followed Lacy with a time of 36:58.04 and Michels finished the race with a personal best time of 37:12.02.

Carrier now sits at 10th all-time in UKTF history in the 10,000m from her performance at 2021 SEC Outdoor Championships (35:47.65).

Michels’ previous best 10,000m of her career was from 2021 outdoor SECs where she ran 38:09.36.

Texas Relays

Galloway, a freshman from Mayfield, Kentucky, finished the heptathlon in 15th place with 4,857 points.

Her best finishes came in the javelin throw (117’5″/35.80m) and long jump (18’6.5″/5.65m), both of which she placed 11th in.

Her 800m time of 2:30.45 was a personal best by 17 seconds.

Annika Williams competed in six of the seven heptathlon events but did not start the 800m and therefore did not have a final score.
