Kentucky Welcomes No. 47 Vanderbilt on Friday Afternoon
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 62 Kentucky women’s tennis team is set to begin a three-match home stretch at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Center, first hosting No. 47 Vanderbilt in a standalone weekend contest on Friday, March 25 at 12 p.m. ET.
The Wildcats, who own a 12-7 record on the season with a 0-6 mark in league play, are seeking their first Southeastern Conference win this week. In its last outing, Kentucky dropped a 6-1 decision at 12th-ranked Texas A&M despite earning the doubles point.
In total, UK has won 13 out of the 19 opening points for a 28-16 ledger in doubles, also sporting a 47-46 singles record. Florencia Urrutia paces the Wildcats with a 13-2 mark in singles action while the tandem of Ellie Eades and Carla Girbau have a team-leading 8-5 record in doubles, followed closely by Fiona Arrese and Urrutia at 7-3.
Vanderbilt, which leads the all-time series against Kentucky at 33-20, will arrive in Lexington with a 9-6 record on the year and is 1-5 in conference action. The Commodores found themselves in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll a number of times, as Anna Ross landed at No. 57, Anessa Lee sits at No. 72 and the duo of Ross and Holly Staff are ranked 76th.
Admission to all home tennis matches is free for the 2022 season. Capacity at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Center is limited and will be based on a first come, first serve basis.
Regardless of an individual’s vaccination status, all fans, guests, and staff are required to wear a mask as they enter, exit, and move around the building. If spectators are unable to wear masks, they are encouraged to not attend matches in person for the sake of their health and the health of others.
Free parking options include the three small E-lots adjacent to the facility 90 minutes prior to the first match. Spectators may also pay to park in the Sports Center Garage (PS No. 7) on the corner of Complex Drive and Sports Center Drive. The cost of parking is $2 per hour with a $16 maximum.
