Hot Kentucky Baseball Hosts Pair of Midweek Games

by UK Athletics Communications and PR

Coming off a massive series victory over No. 8 TCU, the first over a top 10 team since April 2019, Kentucky will host Murray State on Tuesday and Ohio on Wednesday in its final week before Southeastern Conference play begins March 18 at Arkansas.

The Wildcats (10-2) won the first two games versus TCU and rallied from a 7-0 deficit in the final game before ultimately falling. Junior infielder Chase Estep was named SEC Player of the Week after he led the SEC with 18 total bases. Estep was 6-for-12 against the Horned Frogs with a home run, a pair of doubles, five RBI and four runs scored. He hit a three-run home run to help Kentucky clinch the series on Saturday.

Sophomore righty Seth Logue, who has the Wildcats’ only six-inning start this season, will make his third-consecutive Tuesday start. Murray State will seek to make it two in a row against UK after scoring a 13-8 upset at Kentucky Proud Park last season. Ohio has not faced the Cats since losing in the first game of the 2017 NCAA Lexington Regional at old Cliff Hagan Stadium.
