Kentucky Faces No. 18 Tennessee Saturday in SEC Tournament Semifinal

LEXINGTON, Ky. – After earning a convincing win over No. 6 LSU in the quarterfinals Friday, the University of Kentucky women’s basketball team is set for a Southeastern Conference Tournament semifinal Saturday showdown with No. 18 Tennessee. The game will tip at approx. 7:30 p.m. ET inside Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
 
Saturday’s semifinal will be broadcast live on ESPNU with Courtney Lyle, Carolyn Peck and Steffi Sorensen on the call. Darren Headrick will have the call on the UK Sports Network (630AM in Lexington). Live stats and free live audio will be available online at UKathletics.com.
 
With a win, seventh-seeded Kentucky will advance to the championship game and face the winner of fourth-seeded Ole Miss and regular-season champion South Carolina at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday. Kentucky is looking for its first championship game appearance since 2014.
 
Kentucky advanced to the semifinals after continuing its school-record run of winning five straight games against league competition by 15+ points. Friday saw UK take down No. 6 ranked LSU in convincing fashion, 78-63. Senior guard Rhyne Howard was unbelievable in the game, scoring 32 points and hitting six 3-pointers. Redshirt junior forward Dre’una Edwards scored 13 points with 10 rebounds, while senior guard Robyn Benton came off the bench to give UK 11 points, three rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Sophomore win Treasure Hunt played one of her best games of the season, scoring 13 points with seven rebounds, hitting two 3s.
 
Tennessee leads the all-time series in games played vs. UK, 57-15. UT has won two of the last three. UK is 2-7 vs. UT in the SEC Tournament. Kentucky holds a 39-42 (.481) all-time record in the SEC Tournament. The Wildcats are 5-11 all-time in SEC Tournament semifinals. This is UK’s first game vs. UT in the event since earning a quarterfinal win in 2020. UK is 0-2 vs. UT in the semifinals of the event.
