Hello, Again: Kentucky Baseball Welcomes Bellarmine for Second Time
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky baseball team’s bats came alive midway through its weekend series and will look to stay hot on Tuesday when Bellarmine makes the short trip to Lexington for the second time in two weeks. UK defeated the Knights 4-3 on March 30 at Kentucky Proud Park.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET and will be streamed live on the SEC Network+/Watch ESPN platforms. The UK Sports Network will broadcast the game via radio on 630 AM (WLAP) Lexington and on UKAthletics.com, with Darren Headrick on the call.
UK punched back at LSU on Sunday, pounding the Tigers for 13 runs on 13 hits and outscored them 18-5 over the final 12 innings of the weekend series. Earlier last week UK busted out for an 11-7 victory at No. 5 Louisville with sophomore infielder Ryan Ritter turning in a dazzling performance both at the plate (3-for-4, double, home run, six RBI) and in the field.
In the first meeting vs. Bellarmine, the Cats (20-9) got a two-run home run from John Rhodes in the first inning that gave them the lead for good, although it was close throughout. Rhodes later added a sacrifice fly to give him three RBI, while Ritter, Oraj Anu, Trae Harmon and Chase Estep all had two hits. On the mound, freshman Seth Logue earned his second save of the season with two scoreless innings of relief.
