UK Gymnastics Wraps Up Blue/White Meet in Exhibition Debut

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 12 Kentucky Wildcats kicked off the 2020 gymnastics season with their annual Blue/White Meet on Sunday at Memorial Coliseum. The intrasquad exhibition served as fans’ first sneak peak of the Cats before the team opens the regular season at No. 5 Utah on Friday, Jan. 3.

Sunday was highlighted by a stellar performance from returning All-American Mollie Korth, who produced an all-around total of 39.600. The senior from Cambridge, Wisconsin, delivered the best result of the afternoon with a 9.950 vault routine.

Overall, Kentucky finished with seven scores of 9.900 or better among its 14 competitors and 14 scores of at least 9.850.

“I’m pleased with the performance of the team today,” said head coach Tim Garrison. “We showed a lot of routines with a high level of consistency and solid execution.”

Junior Ella Warren ended the afternoon with an all-around sum of 39.475, matching Korth as the only Cats to log at least 9.850 on four events. The Jacksonville, Florida, native tied Korth and freshman Raena Worley with a team-best 9.900 floor routine.

Kentucky will not return to Memorial Coliseum until Friday, Jan. 17 for its only quad meet of the regular season versus No. 28 NC State, No. 36 Lindenwood and North Carolina. After opening the season in Salt Lake City, the Cats will make their home debut versus No. 16 Missouri on Excite Night at Rupp Arena on Friday, Jan. 10.
