UK Gymnastics Signs Five to Class of 2020

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Following the most successful two-year run in program history, the Kentucky Wildcats gymnastics team signed five athletes to a heralded crop of recruits in the class of 2020.

Bailey Bunn, Carissa Clay, Isabella Magnelli and Krista Zultevicz will come to Lexington for the 2021 season, while Ashlyn LaClair is set to make her collegiate debut a year early when the season starts in January.

“The staff and I are excited to bring another great group of talented young women into the UK gymnastics family,” said head coach Tim Garrison. “We’re looking forward to introducing them to the Big Blue Nation and watching them thrive in the incredibly competitive environment of (Southeastern Conference) gymnastics.”

LaClair comes to Lexington from Port Crane, New York. Competing at Arena Gymnastics in Hamilton, New Jersey, LaClair was a region qualifier in each of the past three seasons. She becomes the 20th and final member of the Cats’ 2020 roster.

Bunn will enroll at UK next school year out of Greenville, North Carolina. She competes at Rose’s Gymnastics, where she was a 2018 national qualifier.

Clay will join Kentucky from San Diego, California, where she trains at Mission Valley YMCA. After the graduation of current senior and Cypress, California, native Alaina Kwan, Clay is likely to be the lone representative of the Golden State on the 2021 UK roster.

Magnelli will arrive in Lexington as the second member of the 2019 singing class from the state of New York. A Sloatsburg native who participates at Eastern National Academy Gymnastics in Paramus, New Jersey, Magnelli placed 11th among all-around competitors at last year’s nationals.

Zultevicz rounds out Kentucky’s incoming class from Shickshinny, Pennsylvania. The Northeast Gymnastics Academy alum totes a two-time state champion and two-time national qualifier resume.

Kentucky’s 2020 campaign will kick off with its annual Blue/White Meet on Dec. 15 at Memorial Coliseum. The Cats concluded the 2019 season as the No. 9 team in America.
