Kentucky Cross Country Finishes 4th and 7th at SEC Championships

LEXINGTON, Ky.- Kentucky hosted and raced in the 2019 Southeastern Conference Cross Country Championships on Friday morning at the Kentucky Horse Park. 
 
The men’s team finished in fourth overall on 124 points in an 8,000-meter competition while the women’s team finished in seventh overall on 179 points over a 6k course.
 
Ole Miss won the men’s race on 35 points and Arkansas won the women’s race on 21 points.
 
The Wildcats will begin preparations for the NCAA Southeast Regionals on Friday, Nov. 15 beginning at 11 a.m. in Charlottesville, Virginia.
 
Men’s Team Report
Brennan Fields, who finished fifth with a personal best 23:04.3, led UK to fourth place, down a spot from last year.
 
Trevor Warren finished 11th in 23:21.4 to be Kentucky’s No. 2 finisher, while Dylan Allen (30th, 23:52.1) and Aaron Withrow (34th, 24:01.9) were the Wildcats’ No. 3 and No. 4 finishers respectively.
 
Patrick Schaefer placed 50th in 24:22.8 to round out the top-5 finishers on the men’s side.
 
With their finishes today, Fields earned a spot on the All-SEC First Team, Warren is on the All-SEC Second Team and Withrow was recognized on the All-SEC Freshman Team.
 
Women’s Team Report
Perri Bockrath led the way for the women’s team, finishing 27th in 20:55.0 to help UK earn a seventh-place finish.
 
Kaylie Kenne (35th, 21:13.7), Rachel Boice (37th, 21:16.6) and Kaitlyn Lacy (41st, 21:20.3) finished in the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 spots for Kentucky.
 
Sophie Carrier rounded out the top-5 for the Wildcats with a 47th-place finish in 21:24.7.
 
With her performance today, Kenne was named to the All-SEC Freshman Team.
