Morehead State Brings High-Powered Offense to Lexington

by UK Athletics Communications and PR

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky baseball team steps out of Southeastern Conference play on Tuesday evening as Morehead State makes its first trip to the new Kentucky Proud Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET and the game will air on SEC Network Plus and via WatchESPN.

The Eagles (17-7) have been an offensive juggernaut thus far, batting .310 as a team with an OPS of .848 while scoring 8.2 runs per game. Two starters – Hunter Fain and Jake Hammon – both are hitting well over .400, while Connor Pauly has 11 extra-base hits and 28 runs batted in. The club has 77 total extra-base hits and has drawn 121 walks.

The Wildcats (14-10) have had a rough start to conference play but have been terrific at home against non-conference opponents this season in going 11-1. During coach Nick Mingione’s tenure in Lexington the Cats are 41-5 against non-SEC opponents in Lexington. Senior outfielder Ryan Shinn continues to pummel the baseball and added three home runs over the weekend to give him 17 extra-base hits this season.
