No. 4 Kentucky Rifle Scores 4691 Sunday vs Army

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky rifle team defeated No. 11 Army 4691-4639 to conclude its last home match of autumn portion of the season on Sunday. 
 
North Georgia also shot at the UK rifle range in Buell Armory at Barker Hall, scoring 4580. 
 
No. 4 UK defeated No. 17 NC State with a 4690 on Friday. 
 
UK complete its 2018 part of the 2018-19 season next weekend at Navy. 
 
The Wildcats have emerged victorious from each of their six matches this year, including the three-team Kentucky Long Rifle Match on Oct. 13. 
 
UK fired a 2323 in smallbore and 2368 in air rifle. 
 
Freshman Will Shaner led the way for the Wildcats, firing a 586 in smallbore and 597 in air rifle – which was one off his season best. Shaner’s individual aggregate was 11th best in the country so far this year. 
 
Smallbore report 
UK got out to 2323-2296 lead on Army. 
 
Shaner was the top smallbore scorer, one better than Richard Clark’s unscored (not on scoring squad) tally. Cathryn Papasodora fired a 581, Hailee Sigmon shot a 579, Hanna Carr fired a 577 and Jason Spaude earned a 569. 
 
Air rifle report 
UK outscored army 2368-2343 in air rifle. 
 
Shaner shot 597, two better than his score on Friday. Roby Gomes fired a 593, and Hailee Sigmon was a point shy of Gomes. 
 
Papasodora produced a 586 and Hanna Carr shot 577. 
 
Clark shot an unscored 591 for an 1176 aggregate. 
 
Kentucky was ranked No. 4, NC State is 17 and Army is 11 in this week’s Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association rankings.
