John Calipari Women’s Clinic Set for Oct. 28 in Memorial Coliseum
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The always popular John Calipari Women’s Clinic presented by Allsports will be back again this season for its 10th year, but this year’s clinic, set for Oct. 28 from 6-9 p.m., will bring a new experience for all participants – both returners and first-timers – that includes the opportunity to also watch Kentucky’s nationally ranked volleyball team and a marketplace of local vendors.
After receiving feedback from fans, the clinic will return to historic Memorial Coliseum.
The clinic is designed for women with all levels of basketball knowledge and experience and offers an exclusive inside look at the University of Kentucky men’s basketball program. The cost will remain unchanged at $110.
Each participant will be guaranteed a small group picture with the entire Kentucky men’s basketball team as well as an opportunity to take a photo with Coach Calipari and his wife, Ellen. Participants will be able to download their picture with the team for free for digital or print use after the clinic.
Special guests this year will be ESPN reporters Maria Taylor and Holly Rowe. The longtime ESPN TV personalities will host a station and take questions from attendees during the clinic. Taylor has been a staple with ESPN and the SEC Network since 2014 and is a part of the popular ESPN College GameDay show. Rowe has been with ESPN since 1998 and served as a sideline reporter and play-by-play commentator.
Always one of the highlights of the clinic, participants will have the opportunity to purchase panel basketballs. This year, basketballs will be signed by Calipari and UK personnel.
Attendees will be able to request basketballs for purchase during the online registration process but the number of basketballs available is limited. Due to a high demand of camp participants, attendees will be limited to one basketball but will have the option to buy a second ball if they are available. The only items that will be guaranteed to be signed by UK personnel are the basketballs requested during registration. Clinic attendees will be allowed to bring one additional item to be signed by Coach Calipari only during registration from approximately 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The cost per basketball will be $60 with $10 of the proceeds from each ball going directly to breast cancer research at UK Hospital.
Check-in for the John Calipari Women’s Clinic sponsored by Allsports will start immediately following the volleyball match (approximately 3 p.m.) on Oct. 28. Participants should enter the main entrance of the Joe Craft Center (338 Lexington Ave.).
Starting at 4 p.m., local vendors will be set up on the concourse of Memorial Coliseum to offer attendees a chance to purchase food, gear, etc. Interested vendors should contact Molly Hogan with UK Sports & Campus Marketing at 859.225.1467.
Registered attendees will receive complimentary tickets to the UK women’s volleyball match vs. South Carolina in Memorial Coliseum at 1:30 p.m. Those tickets will be available on site in the UK ticket office lobby. For those who attend the volleyball match, registration for the Women’s Clinic will begin immediately after the volleyball match. The volleyball team is coming off an appearance in the Elite Eight and is once again nationally ranked and in the thick of the Southeastern Conference race.
Parking is free and will be available in the E lot located on the north side of the Joe Craft Center, in Parking Structure #5 on South Limestone and the E Lot located on Lexington Avenue. Parking in R lots is not permitted. With the volleyball match taking place at 1:30 p.m., participants are encouraged to plan accordingly.
Registration is available online. Interested attendees are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible due to limited spots available. The past seven clinics have been sold out.
Throughout the designated check-in time, in addition to the volleyball match, attendees can enjoy a self-guided tour of the Joe Craft Center, including the new Marksbury Players First Suite. Men’s basketball staff members will be stationed throughout the facility for directions and questions.
Following check-in, the clinic will begin at 6 p.m. with the introduction of the 2018-19 UK men’s basketball team. Also included are scheduled presentations by staff and players on the inner workings of the program, as well as a Q & A with Calipari, UK coaches and staff members.
Attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable attire (athletic shoes) and participate in activities and presentations at their own risk.
This clinic is open to women only. Recruitable-age females (currently in grades 7-12, junior college or prep school) are NOT permitted to register for or attend the clinic, per NCAA rules.
Once you have completed the registration process, you will receive a confirmation email with an itinerary. You will receive reminder emails with additional details of the event.
Any clinic-related questions can be answered by calling into the men’s basketball camp line at 859-257-9457 or 859-257-1916.
