Jacob Thomson Named SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky junior Jacob Thomson was named Southeastern Conference Cross Country Cross Country Athlete of the Year, as voted on by the league coaches, Tuesday.
Thomson has a 3.647 grade point average in accounting. 
He placed seventh overall at the 2016 SEC Cross Country Championships with an 8k time of 24:03.60. 
Thomson started the season with three-consecutive runner-up finishes at the Bluegrass Invitational, Texas A&M Invitational, and then led the Wildcats to a team win at the Alabama Crimson Classic.

Thomson earned All-SEC Cross Country honors for the second season in a row by virtue of his top-seven finish at the SEC Championships.
Matthew Thomas and Brennan Fields earned SEC All-Freshman Team honors, as they finished among the top-seven freshmen in the field. Thomas and Fields were third and fourth at SECs, respectively, among freshmen.

Katy Kunc, the SEC Championship Bronze Medalist, earned First Team All-SEC honors for the first time in her career.
