#15/9 Kentucky Heads South for Conference Road Test

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The No. 15/9 Kentucky men’s soccer team will play on the road in Conference USA for the second time this season, at UAB Saturday.
Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. The match is slated to be broadcast on CUSA.TV.
Kentucky will look to maintain form atop the C-USA Table, as the Cats are level on six points with No. 17/16 Charlotte and South Carolina.
The setup
Kentucky enters on a five-match unbeaten run that includes four wins and a draw. Two of those wins (v New Mexico and Charlotte) were against ranked opponents.
The Wildcats have a 2016 record of won 7, lost 2, drew 2 (2-1-0 Conference USA).
UAB enters Saturday’s showdown 5-3-3 (1-1-1 C-USA), two points behind the league leaders. The Wildcats won at home each of the past two weekends in the league, after dropping the C-USA opener at FIU.
Kentucky midfield maestro Napo Matsoso has a team-high four goals. Charlie Reymann has the team lead with five assists, with Matsoso one behind. Reymann leads C-USA in assists.
Kentucky is 2-2 in road matches this season, including a 2-1 loss in its lone C-USA away game.
Kentucky has allowed six goals this season, two from the run of play.
Against Evansville Kentucky scored multiple goals in a game for the first time since winning 4-0 in the opener.
Saturday’s matchup figures to be a battle between two of the nation’s top defenses. Kentucky’s goals-against average – 10th best nationally entering the weekend – is 0.51. UAB ranks 14th in that category (0.59).

“UAB is always a tough game for us,” UK senior captain Charlie Reymann said. “The past couple of years I think it’s’ been 1-0, both were battles. Defensively we have to stay strong because they’re always good offensively. We just have to play as a team, and hope to come out with a good result.”
