LEXINGTON, Ky. – In a close match from wire-to-wire, the fourth-ranked Kentucky rifle team turned in its second best score of the season to edge seventh-ranked Murray State 4684-4661.

Connor Davis led the Wildcats in smallbore with a 589, and Sonya May and Davis each had 593s in air rifle.

Heather Kirby scored a 592 and Jon Pinkel followed in air rifle with 590.

UK led 2316-2311 after smallbore, coming back from a three-point deficit following the initial kneeling sequence.

UK outscored Murray State 2368-2350 in air rifle.

UK is 5-0 to begin the season, with all five of its wins having come against top-25 opponents, including No. 7 Murray State, No. 12 Navy, No. 14 Akron, No. 17 NC State and No. 15 UT-Martin.

UK will be back in action on Sunday vs. 15th-ranked Army at 8 a.m. in Buell Armory.

UK rifle fans can take advantage of free breakfast beginning at 8 a.m. in the upstairs portion of Buell Armory. Live scoring will be projected on a big screen for those taking advantage of the free food and drinks.

The Wildcats moved from 10th in the national rankings last week, to fourth in the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) poll earlier this week after the win over UT-Martin.

On Sunday, fans will be able enter the shooting range once air rifle begins, but they are asked to remain upstairs during smallbore due to space concerns.

Live scoring will be available at UKrifle.com
