LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Lou Styles led a small crew of Wildcats who competed at the Greater Louisville Classic with an third-place finish in the second-tier “blue” race on Saturday at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer Park.

The UK men’s team finished eighth overall in the blue race with 271 points.

Styles ran a time of 24:47.25. Tim Layten, who like Styles runs mostly middle-distance events on the track, covered the 8,000-meter course in 25:49.62.

Gabe Harm finished 64th  (25:51.37), Raine Wireman placed 66th (25:51.77) and Sean Willard rounded out UK’s top-5 in 79th place with a time of 25:59.07.

The Wildcats competed on consecutive Saturdays for the first time this season, although none of the runners who competed last week at Minnesota’s Griak Invitational were in action this Saturday.

Kentucky would only be scheduled to compete two weeks in a row one other time this year, should they qualify for the NCAA Championships after the NCAA Southeast Regional.
