LEXINGTON, Ky. ?Kentucky junior guard Patrick Sparks has been named the National Player of the Week by The Sporting News, ESPN.com and Dick Vitale after sinking three free throws to seal a 60-58 come-from-behind win over No. 13 Louisville Saturday.

The Central City, Ky., native also earned Southeastern Conference Player of the Week honors after totaling a season-high 25 points, including five three-pointers, in the road victory over the Cardinals. The Wildcats were down 16 points at halftime but climbed back in the game after 18 second-half points from Sparks. It tied the school record for largest halftime deficit overcome.

Collegeinsider.com also has named Sparks their Star of the Week for the performance. In addition, Dick Vitale also named Tubby Smith the National Coach of the Week on ESPN.com.
