Lexington, (Ky.) ? Andy Green, the all-time hits leader in Kentucky baseball history with 277, has been promoted to the Major League level by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Green will join the club in Baltimore for tonight?s game against the Orioles.

Green played in a school-record 216 consecutive games at UK from 1997 to 2000. The Lexington, Ky., native starred at Lexington Christian Academy prior to his time at Kentucky. His 199 career runs scored also are a Wildcat record. Green becomes the second player from Kentucky to join the Diamondback active major league roster, as Brandon Webb is a starting pitcher in Arizona. Green and Webb were teammates at UK from 1998-2000.

Green has posted impressive numbers for Arizona?s Triple-A affiliate Tuscon this year. In 54 games, he batted .330 with 25 doubles, eight home runs and 34 runs batted in. The Diamondbacks and Orioles are scheduled to play at 6:05 p.m. (ET).
