The University of Kentucky baseball team will play host to Winthrop on Tuesday, May 7, at 6 p.m., at Cliff Hagan Stadium in the Wildcats’ final non-conference home game of the 2001 season.

UK carries an overall record of 20-32 into Tuesday’s game. The Cats went 1-3 in games last week, defeating intrastate rival Morehead State before dropping three games to Southeastern Conference power South Carolina. Winthrop enters the contest with a record of 40-11-1.

The Wildcats and Eagles met for the first time in the schools’ history earlier this February in the Winthrop Classic. Winthrop took two contests from UK by scores of 3-0 and 10-7.

UK and Winthrop were originally scheduled to play a two-game series on Tuesday and Wednesday, but Wednesday’s game was cancelled in order for both teams to abide by the NCAA’s 56-game policy.
