Duncan, Knight, Southall Set to Compete at USA Diving Winter Nationals
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Sam Duncan, Kyndal Knight, and Morgan Southall of the University of Kentucky swimming and diving team are set to compete at the USA Diving Winter National Championship on Dec. 13-18 at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center in Bloomington, Indiana.
Hosted on Indiana University’s campus, the event will serve as the qualifier for the 2022 FINA Grand Prix meets, the 2022 FINA World Championships, and the 2022 FISU World University Games.
The meet will also be streamed live on USA Diving’s Facebook and YouTube pages.
Duncan is slated to compete on the men’s 1-meter and 3-meter boards on Saturday and Thursday, respectively. Knight and Southall will both participate on the women’s 1-meter on Thursday, with Knight also seeing action on Tuesday’s 3-meter synchro and Friday’s 3-meter.
A sophomore co-captain, Duncan dove to fifth on the 1-meter at the Ohio State Invitational last month. He posted third-place finishes on the 1-meter and 3-meter in a tri-meet with Auburn and NC State earlier this season, also earning the runner-up spot on the 1-meter versus Tennessee.
In her latest appearance, Knight won the 1-meter and platform at the Ohio State Invitational. The senior co-captain, who was named the SEC Co-Diver of the Week on Oct. 19, also swept the 1-meter and 3-meter against Ohio and Tennessee, achieving a personal best on the 3-meter board against the Bobcats.
Before notching a lifetime best on platform at the mid-season invitational, Southall secured a pair of wins on the 1-meter and 3-meter against Auburn and NC State for the first collegiate victories of her career. The junior was also the runner-up on both of those boards during the dual meet with Ohio.
