Rhodes Named to the 2020-21 MAC Hermann Women’s Watch List

LEXINGTON, Ky.  – University of Kentucky women’s soccer standout forward Jordyn Rhodes earned a midseason nod on Thursday afternoon, being named to the 2020-21 Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Women’s Watch List after an outstanding fall season and ahead of a promising spring campaign.

Rhodes is coming off of a sensational sophomore year, concluding the fall season leading the Southeastern Conference in shots per game, goals, goals per game, points and points per game.

  • Shots per game: 3.78
  • Goals: 10 (led by four goals)
  • Goals per game:  1.11
  • Points: 21 (led by five points)
  • Points per game: 2.33

Proving her flair for precision, she also went 5-of-5 on penalty kicks last fall. Even more impressive, Rhodes led the conference in each of those categories having competed in as many as two fewer games  than some of her competitors because of their deeper run in the 2020 SEC Tournament.

Perhaps the best game in her career came in the last contest of the fall season against Florida in the first round of the league tournament. Rhodes led the team with the first hat trick in her career, scoring three goals on just four shots on goal and in under 96 minutes. Despite losing to the Gators in a taxing 6-5 battle, Rhodes’ hat trick marked the first time a Kentucky player accomplished that feat since Arin Gilliland did so against Eastern Kentucky in 2014.

It marked the second straight game in which Rhodes scored multiple goals and the third straight game where she had scored at least one goal. Even more, it marked the fifth game in her career she had scored multiple goals and the third such game during the fall season.

Prior to the 2020 SEC Tournament, Rhodes was named a 2020 All-SEC First Team Selection, Kentucky’s first since Courtney Raetzman reached the prestigious height in 2015.

Proving her consistency, Rhodes connected on half of the goals she attempted during the reduced schedule, earning nine goals in just 18 shots. Meanwhile, the sophomore only missed five minutes of action all season, competing for more than 861 minutes.

The season honor came just two days after being named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week, leading Kentucky past Florida in the regular season finale. It marked UK’s first triumph over UF since 2014 and just the fifth time in the all-time series. The South Lebanon, Ohio, native scored two goals in the game, once on a penalty kick and once on an assist from fellow forward Hannah Richardson. She also posted her first and solo assist of the season in that game. It was Kentucky’s first SEC Player of the Week award since Evangeline Soucie in 2017 and the first SEC Offensive Player of the Week since Zoë Swift in 2014.

In her debut season in 2019, the then-freshman tied for the team lead with eight goals, 17 points and 18 shots on goal.
