UK Men’s Tennis Earns ITA All-Academic Team Recognition
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky men’s tennis earned 2020 All-Academic Team recognition from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Monday, while Parth Aggarwal, Kevin Huempfner, Heman Nama and Jonathan Sorbo were named ITA Scholar-Athletes for their individual work in the classroom.
To qualify for ITA All-Academic Team status, a program must have a team GPA of 3.2 or better for the 2019-20 academic year. ITA Scholar-Athletes require an individual GPA of at least 3.5.
Kentucky was one of 186 Division I programs to earn an ITA All-Academic Team distinction and one of 12 recipients from the Southeastern Conference. Aggarwal, Huempfner, Nama and Sorbo were four of 979 ITA Scholar-Athletes from around the country, with 56 coming from the SEC. The Wildcats tied for the sixth-most individual honorees in the conference.
Aggarwal, Huempfner and Sorbo joined César Bourgois and Ying-Ze Chen on the SEC Spring Sports Academic Honor Roll on July 10. Both Nama and Sorbo will return to campus for the 2020-21 season.
