Peter Wetzlar: 2020 Tokyo Olympics Postponement
The following is a statement from UK swimming and diving’s Peter Wetzlar on the postponement of the 2020 Olympics:
“I know athletes around the world are coming to terms with the postponement of the Olympics. As disappointing as it is, it is the right decision for the safety and well-being of the athletes, support staff and fans. The end of my student-athlete experience was unexpected, but I am extremely proud of my swimming career at Kentucky. I wouldn’t be at the level I am now without the support of my teammates and coaches. Being a part of several record-breaking relays and qualifying for the 2020 NCAA Championships are just a few memories I will hold on to forever. I am trying to refocus to get through these uncertain times, and I’m doing my best to stay on course. My family in Zimbabwe and my wife are supporting me and helping me to attain a lifetime dream of competing at the 2021 Olympics.” – Peter Wetzlar, Team Zimbabwe
