Kentucky Cross Country Hosts SEC Championships on Friday Morning
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky will host the 2019 Southeastern Conference Cross Country Championships on Friday beginning at 9 a.m. ET at the Kentucky Horse Park. This meet marks the fifth time that UK will serve as host to the SEC Championships and the first time since 2007. The meet will also be televised live on SEC Network.
The men’s team kicks things off with an 8,000-meter race beginning at 9:05, followed by the 6k women’s race that gets started at 10. An awards presentation will follow the women’s race.

Following Friday’s race, the Wildcats begin their preparations for the NCAA Southeast Regional on Nov. 15 in Charlottesville, Virginia beginning at 11 a.m. ET.
Men’s Team Outlook
In the last time out for the men’s team, Kentucky finished in 29th at Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Indiana. Brennan Fields led the way in that meet after finishing in 43rd, followed by Aaron Withrow who was the Wildcats’ No. 2 finisher with a 131st-place finish.
The men’s team on Friday will be comprised of Dylan Allen, Tanner Dowdy, Fields, McLean Griffin, Patrick Schaefer, Gabriel Szalay, Matthew Thomas, Trevor Warren, Shane Williams and Withrow.
Women’s Team Outlook
The women’s team finished in 18th at Pre-Nationals in their last time out. UK was led by Perri Bockrath with a 77th-place finish while Kaylie Kenne was Kentucky’s No. 2 finisher with a 93rd-place finish.
For the race on Friday, the Wildcats will have Bockrath, Rachel Boice, Sophie Carrier, Kenne, Kaitlyn Lacy, Sarah Michels, Madisyn Peeples, Caitlin Shepard and Kelli Walsh competing.
